He was told all his gyms had to shutdown Friday and shut them down he did however...
All full time gym staff have still had to go to work every day since, my Mrs manager of one and she was in yesterday and today. They literally have nothing to do at all as they did a deep clean over the weekend yet have been made to go in. So she has all the full time staff sat 2m apart twiddling their thumbs in an empty gym.
Only positive is she’s being paid I suppose, unlike the majority staff on zero hour contracts.

There is that I spose, but it begs the question about essential work journey doesn't it because there is no work.
Is it essential she earns a wage? If not then stay at home.

Ashley has very little respect or concern for its workforce, I think he’d be more than happy for his staff to stay at home so he doesn’t have to pay them.

As it's not essential for them to go into work, they should be 'furloughed'.... we've just done the same for our Bar Steward at the Snooker Club.

We have done this for our 3 staff members. The country may be in debt forever to do this, I think we are anyway to be honest, but it will keep the economy from collapsing.

That's basically what I've said to her, is it essential she earns a wage right now it is a neccestiy to have her wage as I'm in limbo between current contracts end and can't start new job because of Covid-19 shut down. We have enough to get by but she is awaiting an update on what's happening today but hopefully after today she can remain home.

There is really no excuse for the owner if they have no customers coming in. Wages are largely covered, why would you not send people home, keep them safe. If this works as we hope the gym will be open sooner.

It's a worrying time and she like others shouldn't be in this position.

Funny how these capitalist feckers (Ashley,Branson et al) now want socialist handouts eh.

Good luck Wolfie

Absolutely agree with you mate her and her staff should not be in this position. If it comes to it I'll work in local tesco stacking shelves ti keep an income if I can't start the new job and Ashley refuses to budge on his paying of staff. Needs must and all that

Absolutely mate, hence my use of emoji’s as I’m sure one of my biggest fans on here could be ready to pounce.:censored:
I dont know who you mean and I wont ask but in these circumstances NOBODY should lose out. This is the time when social security is needed. I'm not suggesting giving everyone handouts per se, those in need who have paid taxes need to be looked after in their hour of need.

These multi million pound companies should be held responsible for their employees, not the government.

Mrs Wolf has received an email to state they have a closing down procedure to follow to close the business from 5pm today until further notice. They cannot leave until 5pm as the procedure requires sending back the signed off documents and 5pm (email time stamped) and they're tracking the finger print staff time system to ensure nobody leaves before then. So literally all of them sat there till 5pm with naff all to do as they fully closed the gyms and pools Friday. The email however does not state if they are going to receive the 80% wage.

I’m no expert in workplace law etc but I would assume that any employee who has attended work for the duration of contracted hours they’d have to be paid in full.

They will get full pay for last 2 days, but as of 5pm tonight SD have relented and said they no longer will be given shifts until the lockdown is lifted but haven't advised on pay, its only 80% if they apply for it as a company through government as im lead to believe.
