Take a look at MyProtein online. They do loads of stuff you can order in bulk and mix and match with other supplements.

Im pretty certain they do a protein range for diet. It's a lot cheaper than your mainstream supplements like maxi muscle as well.

When selecting a good protein you need to figure out what your trying to achieve. Building muscle or getting leaner. If you want to get leaner then you need something high in protein and low in carbs. My proteins instant whey is spot on. If your trying to slap some muscle on then you need protein but also simple carbohydrates following a workout. If you don't then your body attacks the protein for energy (glucose) rather than dedicate the protein purely to repairing.

Dont get suckered into to buying "when isolate" whey concentrate is fine.

Also stay away from soy protein powders and egg based powders

Any Whey Isolate will do. Expensive but it's usually the best.

Make sure you get some carbs in post exercise too

Dont buy whey isolate unless you want to be a competitive bodybuilder. Its money down the drain. Just buy whey concentrate.

Its the same as putting ferrari oil in a vauxhall. It will do the job but you won't reep the benefits

Take a look at TheProteinWorks too - I find their stuff better than MyProtein personally.
I have used this company alot. I prefer the flavours they offer. However, they get their raw product from the same source. Its good stuff for the money

To use a golf comparisons, why use Taylormade/Mizuno/Ping/Cobra when you can use Dunlop :D

I would suggest that the higher bioavailability of isolate vs concentrate makes it a better choice post workout.

Concentrate with and around meals, no issue here.

Those were always my preferences and served me pretty well.

Another one for the protein works. I can refer you if you like, we'd both get something free.
Yea, they're offer some decent stuff on referrals, it's pretty good. It was started by my mate Ross (he's the chiseled chap on the adverts. As an aside, he just pulled a mini 26.2 miles around Silverstone for Charity!) - but regardless of that, the products they offer and the flavours are top notch - I have no invested interest in it, it's a genuinely decent product, which I'd be more than happy to recommend even if my mate wasn't one of the guys behind it.

I don't use supplements any more as I don't really train enough to justify it.

thanks Mendie, yep if you wish that would be good thanks!
aztec, I am only looking at it as starting to go from 3x a week to 5/6 so I can run inbetween gym sessions and hoping it helps my recovery.

Look at Muscle Food, rather than a supplement per se, why not trailer your diet and foods to your regime.
all good and well, but if you are weight training you'll do well to eat enough protein purely from food to get the amount required. It also works out bloody expensive.

I use Musclefood for all of my meat as well.

Well when I was training in the gym 4 times a week lifting weights for American Football training, protein shakes were a great and convenient way to help aid recovery. Yes, there's the argument that you don't NEED to use them and can get protein from other sources by eating more high protein food, but it's really convenient for in-between meals and for recovery straight after you've finished in the gym.

I do quite a bit of cycling in the summer, so using them after long rides would be helpful, but I tend just to gorge myself on whatever is in the house! :D

thanks Mendie will get it sorted tonight!!
Yeah aztec, i head to the gym straight from work, so it should give me what I want then can eat dinner with the family, but I also like stuffing my face with stuff at home, hopefully this can help me stop ha ha.
I have 3 kids Fish, oh, and a wife, I eat usually what she makes, mostly healthy stuff, fish with rice and veg or meat with veg etc but would be too much to expect everyone to partake, and would think quite expensive too!
