Looking to do a booze cruise / two day golf trip next year with a couple of mates. Anyone got any recommendations for a good base or deals without driving for hours from Calais?

Thanks

A group of us played in France in September. Stayed in Hardelot at Le Jardin Hotel, very nice and right in the centre of town. Played at Belle Dune and both Le Touquet courses. I recommend avoiding the two Hardelot courses. Les Dunes has been chopped about and ruined, six par 3's and Les Pins was in awful condition. If you want a bit more nightlife then stay in Le Touquet.

Belle Dune is a lovely course - the village, Fort Mahon, is maybe not the best base as it's comatose out of season. Not played the Hardelot courses but they have a good reputation.

Saint-Omer is pretty decent if you don't want a coastal course.

Thanks guys - anyone played Wimereux? Looks OK
Wimereux is okay, but can get blooming windy up there!!!
If I were going to France for a couple of days golfing I'd be heading towards Le Touquet if I'm honest.
Have played St Omer once, didn't rate it that highly if I'm honest. Having said that, it was during the winter season so was very muddy.

You've got to remember thought, when Smiffy was last at St Omer it was during the D Day landings! :smirk:

I didn't know he was German!

Le Touquet gets my vote. If you go in the casino, win €660 starting off with €10 don't blow it all on fine wines the same night...

Will be keeping an eye on this, as looking to do similar next year and we were looking at Hardelot
For staying in our group thoroughly enjoy it, much smaller than Le Touquet but some excellent restaurants and enough good bars. Sadly the Hardelot courses are nowhere as good as they used to be. Both Le Touquet courses are better and Belle Dune is better than all of them.

As above but I would stay in Le Touquet and the Red Fox hotel has upped its game and also now has secure parking. I would also consider St Omer.

Just back from our third year on the bounce. Belle Dune La Foret and La Mer played stayed Red Fox again. 16 of us and had a great time. New club house finally built at La Touquet golf. Let Mer and La Floret top course with Belle Dunn greens getting more dispointing as the years roll on but still worth a play.

Thanks! Would you recommend Red Fox then? And is it close to the town with plenty of bars etc? Would you still play Belle Dune or is there something else worth looking at? La pins or la dunes? Not sure of any other local courses

Definitely stay in Red Fox but contact them and book car park €14 per day. If you haven't played Belle Dune I would play it but not before La Foret and Mer. Mer is the top one. If you have fitness issues Dunn and Mer are buggies courses and need booking in advance.

Wimeruex and St Omar worth a shout. Haven't played the 2 Hardlot courses for a couple of years but talk was they weren't in as good a nice as they used to be.

If your on a long trog down to the Shuttle Ashford GC sometimes do a deal and Ashford Premier Inn North is good value.

This is me all over....................Le Touquet is a safe bet...golf courses are OK, restaurants and nightlife good. However, if you venture over on the ferry towards St Malo you have alot more choice. I played at Omaha beach last weekend and it was by far the best course I have played in France...and I have played a few...also can't go wrong with Granville....a lovely links, with nice town, restaurants and Casino.....or you could try Les Ormes ( a big holiday complex...v French), with St Malo (Le Tronchet) for a proper Frenchie experience.

So, if you are feeling brave, venture down towards the middle...any more help let me know.

Bon courage!

Stayed in Rouen and played St Saens which was a nice track. Will put the other course up when I remember it's name, very tight course and you could only see the hole you were playing.
