A different angle on my previous thread.

Are there any professions you feel you could do,or even have learnt that is not your real one.

Although when doing it,it bores the hell out of me I think I could be a professional painter.

Doing a lot of it lately and getting better all the time.

Painting not art

When I was younger I always thought I could have been a football commentator, and even now I think I'd be decent at that. Never looked into how to get into it though, probably too late now.

I could be a mechanic. Really could. Served my apprenticeship 93-97 but after being down a pit one freezing cold February fumbling with an exhaust retainer bracket bolt with fingers I couldn't feel resulting in said exhaust swinging down and smacking me in the head, I decided it was not for me.

Always enjoyed making things with my hands, and wanted to become a nurseryman or mechanic at about 17-18 but got talked out of it kind of. Used to spend hours and hours on the car or gardening.

Still enjoy gardening and making things(welding, metalwork or woodwork). There is something special about creating/making or growing something with your own hands.

I wouldn't have minded a stab(no pun intended) at being a doctor or nurse. I was a Senior Medical Physics engineer covering the Acute Care Areas in a hospital before moving to the private sector. I've set up and ran things like anaesthetic machines and intensive care ventilators on dummies a million times. It would have been nice to take it to another level and used them in anger.

I can turn my hand to most things in the building trade.
Don’t particularly like doing any of them tho.

For me Archaeologist or some sort of historian. Always had a huge interest in and always wanted to learn more and study it more. Especially certain periods of history that I could specialise in that I love.

Aside from that armed police office I guess I'd be good at with my back ground except I really wouldn't wanna be a copper.

Grew up in farming country, so always wanted to be a vet - but couldn't be arsed to do the 6 or so years study. Shame really, as I need never have had cold hands in winter.

I would have liked to have been an investigative journalist.
I’ve a good analytical mind and part of accountancy is inferring from the numbers what has happened and why.

Electrician, plumber, car mechanic - most things DIY related. Simply because I have never had the money to able to afford to pay for others to the jobs for me I have had to learn to do them for myself and buying a house that needed total renovation meant it was a necessity. Thank you Readers Digest Repair Manual.

Although quite a few years in the engineering sector did gain me quite a bit of knowledge on the way.

When I was a teenager I wanted to be a snooker pro but never really got good enough.
