Yeah, I agree, A diesel would be the best bet for what LB described. I had a quick squint on autotrader when I posted this yesterday and saw £12k was at a push for the Qashqai (below). With his powers of negotiation though i'm sure he could grind them down :)  


100% with you on the 1.6. The missus had a Juke previously and it wouldn't pull you out of bed.
