    Peter Allis RIP

Sad to hear of his passing. Fond memories watching the masters and the open with his fine commentary on the bbc. Sad in recent years the bbc decided to severely cut funding for golf and with Aliss ageing the product suffered badly. The finest golf commentator and has left a mark on many people. RIP.

    Sex discrimination in golf

Na sorry mate if you require a 54 handicap golf is simply not for you. To take 3 strokes a hole is borderline ridiculous, I’m not elitist in anyway I’m just giving my opinion. Go and play a pitch and putt course or go to the driving range until you can at least make contact with the ball. How...

    Sex discrimination in golf

Let’s be honest the red tees will always be the ladies tees 😂 and will always be called such by myself. I even call the yellow tees the ladies tees and pretty much only ever play off the medal tees. What’s the point playing bounce games off a shorter course then playing a longer one in a comp...

Stand aside Bryson.... all hail Wilco

I wouldn’t think your line of thinking is correct because the equipment and ball is Pretty much maxed out at the moment, if anything it may be reigned back slightly through equipment or stringent rules for the professional ball used in tournament play. The only way pro’s can really get longer...

The usual differential isn’t as it seems. On the stats the differential between the shortest and longest hitters is approximately 40 yards or just over, though I know some have the ability to hit it considerably longer than these figures state which are only measured at certain holes etc. You...

Total driving is a mix of distance and accuracy, though if you hit it 330 and are 10 yards more offline than the guy who hits it 300. The 330 guy is still a better driver. Don’t forget the us open this year was played at one of the toughest courses in the world. If they set up the course to...

    Perks of a membership?

It’s not a bad way to think, I tend to only buy motorcycles I think will go up in value and never buy a brand new one because it doesn’t make sense financially. Exception with me is golf clubs which almost never rise in value and decrease dramatically over the course of a year. I try to buy...

    Perks of a membership?

I would add that if I didn’t play at least 3 times a month year round I wouldn’t be a member anywhere. Though you could still make the argument that with various things it might still offer value playing twice a month but probably not enough to offset the cost of your subs are £1000 ++ £1200 in...

    Perks of a membership?

Most clubs as I understand use fairway credit if you would like to pay monthly. The ones that will let you spread the cost directly to them are in the minority. I can only speak from my own experience but I could get a much lower rate from a bank than from a credit company, it may just be the...

Of course there are long hitters who aren’t high in the OWGR but the fact of the matter is there are no short hitters high in the OWGR. The shortest they are is bang on average and the trend is the higher up the rank you go generally the longer they are. It is a key ingredient to being a top...

    Perks of a membership?

£1000 isn’t a huge amount of money, even if you don’t have it to hand you’d be better taking a short loan from the bank and paying back not much more than the original fee. Same with folks leasing cars I laugh at them in amazement, throwing money away. They must have too much 😂

    Perks of a membership?

Does nobody pay fees yearly anymore ? All I hear is per month, you pay more paying monthly, sometimes a good chunk. Pay it yearly and it won’t be as expensive, don’t line finance companies pockets. This is one of my major gripes with people today, they have everything on tick but don’t see the...

Fact of the matter is the shortest players in the top 20, even the lowest positions he quoted, are bang on tour average and the higher rank you go the trend is the longer they get. You can’t hide that

Can you quote the rest of the players driving distance stats in the top 20, it becomes even more telling when you get into the top 10

No he is seeing distance gains he’s just not got the consistency levels he needs and also considerably more than 4-8 yards. I’m sure it will be in play early next year at some courses and maybe not so much on others.
