    V A R

Just seen on the news that last night a game in Germany had an incident where at the end of the first half, the teams had left the field for half time, then VAR showed there should have been a penalty in the dying seconds.

So the Ref got both teams out of the changing rooms, the penalty was taken and scored, then it was half time again.

What is going on, we have VAR in Rugby, with only a very small time lag. Are Football using a different type of VAR?
If so, itís not working. Itís farcical

    What is Rugby doing differently?

Thereís going to be a few more of these mistakes but overall VAR is definitely the right direction to go and will benefit football in the long run.

    Just teething problems thatís all.

It has to be said, though, that if there are teething problems, why the hell is it going to be used in the World Cup?
These teething problems should have been sorted out at lower level matches before even thinking about putting them into the upper tiers of the game.
Ludicrous and embarrassing situation last night....

If you're not going to have it then football fans need to learn to accept that mistakes will be made and not complain when it happens.
If it can be made to work properly and not slow the game unduly then it will be good
    But until then....

I also find it funny that you get pundits dissecting every decision to the nth degree with super slow mo replays, who in the process are undermining the refs authority and trust in the officials. Which then leads to phone in shows made up of swivel eyed loons berating the ref for their teams poor performance. And everyone then starts moaning when refs are given a fraction of the technology and help that is freely available to pundits to help them make a decision when every one of the 22 players on the pitch is trying gain an advantage and pull the wool over the refs eyes.

VAR will be the best thing introduced to football EVER. (Until they adopt my new offside rule). The problem at the moment is that they are having it operated by morons. This is because football thinks it knows everything and does not need to consult other sports who have had it operating successfully for years, on how to use it correctly to minimise disruption on the field of play.
Football is that Johnny knowall we all know in the pub that know flip all about flip all. Everyone who cannot see that VAR will actually improve things should go back to the dark ages and hand back their mobile phones, Laptops, Tablets etc as they go. Good grief!

    ^^^^^ This

The system is fine, it is currently being operated poorly. There should be a time limit on a review, players should be on the pitch until that time period is complete. To let them leave the pitch was incompetence.

I didn't even know if was within the laws to restart a game after the half time whistle has been blown. Seems very odd.
