    Syrian airstrikes

So it seems the UK, France and USA have sent the Syrians and others a message. Were they right or wrong. Just seen Trumps message to the world and thought it was very well presented. Also thought if someone else had said it, it would of been recieved better. For the record I think they were right in bombing the targets.
    Thoughts please.

I think someone else wrote the speech, too measured to have come from Trump. It is a shame we can't be like that more often.

As long as they stop there I think everyone can walk away, honours even and it won't escalate. I hope that is the case.

Gets my support. Assad and Russia need to understand that there are consequences for using chemical weapons.

Yes, that is my reading of the situation.
Two desperate failing politicians playing silly brinkmanship politics.

May needs to get Parliament approval for any further action. She is in a minority government after all.

    Re: Syrian airstrikes

    The whole thing is hypocritical.

Didn't UK firms supply chemical weapons to Assad in the first place? How about sanctions on firms who sell weapons to evil regimes?

And how come Trump and May didn't take any action in response to the Russians carpet bombing and killing thousands of innocent civilians?

The timing is also suspect, bombing these sites the day before independent experts were due to inspect them.

If it has any meaningful impact on Assad's actions then it was worth doing. If they were done mostly for the internal politics in the respective countries and to press the buttons of some voters then they would be mostly a waste of time. I am sure time will tell.

I do not have a vote in the French elections.

Are you happy that May has taken the UK to the brink of a war with Russia without the support of parliament for her minority party?
