I suppose we had to have a winter eventually. We haven't really had any significant snow since 2010, but had a fair bit so far this winter.

The last few years up hear have been very mild indeed, esp, Dec, Jan and Feb we were back on the full course early last year in Feb and i think Inverness and the Moray coast had some silly warm temps that were for a few days the warmest in Europe. Mind you we did have a very warn day a few Fridays ago where there were guys i know who played in short sleeves in the afternoon.

pretty cold here at present , but all the snow we had Sunday/ Monday and yesterday AM has gone

That's global warming for you. Making everywhere colder for longer. Wait a minute...

Seriously though, it seems like the seasons have moved since I was young. I used to think of November/December/January as winter, but nowadays it's still relatively warm in November and still freezing in February, so winter is more like late December, Jan, Feb and a bit of March! I was playing golf in October and November in shorts still.

I said this to someone recently, not sure if it's just perception as I've got older, will have to try and find some data on it when I have some time.

Data? Interesting. I notice it with me having an early September birthday as well. As a kid growing up my birthday typically seemed to be in Autumn, but in the last 5-6 years it's still felt like summer.

    Re: Long Cold Winter

We lost one weekend last winter, we’ve already lost 6 since november this time, had a little bit of snow, but loads of rain and ice. Roll on spring.

    Re: Long Cold Winter

Cold I can handle, but it feels like it hasn't stopped raining since bonfire night down here. It wouldn't be so bad if we had a nice summer to look back on but that was pretty much rubbish as well. Proper spring can't come quick enough!

Handicap 18. Bag full of Taylor Made with a bit of Dunlop thrown in.

Indeed it could well be as global warming is thought to cause extremes in weather, not increased temperatures everywhere at all times across the globe.
2015 = Worst golf season in memory - End handicap 15.2 - now with added 1.0 after review = 16.2

Yeah I was just kidding, it's just the name 'global warming' that makes me chuckle. Makes more sense to me when people use the term 'climate change'.
