Surely the focus should be more on these companies to use biodegradable products.

Like this bag charge . Is it going to even solve any issues regarding the environment or is it just another tax to screw more money out of people .

I drink a fair bit of coffee and reckon there should be no levy on recycled cups being used, at least then the materials will have been recovered at least once. Virgin materials, charge away.

Well, charging for placky bags has made a marked difference to how many supermarkets are issuing and hence the stiff going to landfill....so makes sense on coffee cups too.

Time they went after bonkers packaging too.....

I suspect that will be part of any future legislation...

One of my lads went into a coffee outlet, a while back, and asked for a refill of his own re-usable mug... Staff refused on H+S grounds and instead invited him to purchase one of their own re-usable mugs... How does that help?

That is crazy, ridiculous. Which chain was that?

I'm all for this. Apparently we use 90% fewer plastic bags since the levy was brought in so that has definitely worked. Disposable coffee cups is a real 1st world nonsense. People will get used to taking their own mugs with them in the same way they now take their own bags to the supermarket.

Will have to try using my own cup at a Costa Express machine at the garage where I pick mine up. Pretty sure they won't offer any discount though.
