    Irons lofts !

Having just returned to the game after 15 years away I'm absolutely staggered by the loft changes in modern day irons. Checking the spec of Taylormade M2s against my almost 20 year old Maxflis and the difference club for club is huge...

    For example.

    My 7 iron = 35 degrees - TM M2 7 iron = 28.5 degrees

Almost 7 degrees of loft difference on the same number....holy bejeezus.

People want distance, distance, distance! And refuse to club up.

My cobras 7 iron is 33 degrees, hit it longer than my previous ping g15s. Tried the m2's didnt like the jacked lofts, or the chunkyness of them.

    Re: Irons lofts !

if manufacturers are cranking the lofts to get more distance the why doesn't the m2 7 iron that has a 6 iron loft launch the same as a 6 iron? its because modern clubs are helping the golfer so well that the loft has to be stronger to stop the ball going up your nose.

cranking the lofts has nothing to do with distance
