Re: Which ball would you play?

I use soft balls in the £17-20 range. They mostly claim to do both! (Probably erroneously)

For the poll though I voted control. A ball that gets you 10 yards further but spins off into the rough each time wouldn't be much use to me.

    Does it though?
Genuinely, is there any test data out there which says ball a curves/hooks/slices more than ball b? Or is it just sales guff?

I don't know, I was just justifying my pick of the two poll options. i.e. in theory, if I had to chose between a ball that only gives distance and a ball that only gives control, I'd pick control. But as I said initially, most of the mid-level soft balls I use claim to do both anyway!

Ditto, I use ad333 tour which seems to be a great middle ground ball. I tried a box of the new Bridgestone e6 a few months ago which are supposed to be low driver spin which keeps the ball straighter, erm no they didn’t 😂

Out of interest and I don't know the answer, why does more control mean the sacrifice of distance?

I'm not 100% Tashy, but its only on shorter shots for control. IE a prov1x will spin more than a Topflight. will go higher and land with spin, so will stop where as the harder one/two piece will roll out more.. thats my understanding anyway.

Distance for me, preferrably with a soft feel, though. Control does not help me any if I don't get it close enough to the green first.

Balls that spin higher will also die slightly more into wind.

Chrome Soft is a premium spin ball like the aforementioned, CXR Control would be an AD333 equivalent.

Much as I like the chromesoft I don't get as much spin from it as I do from a ProV...
