One thing our course has got that not many courses do have is an on course wheel wash for your trollies.

Give it a couple of days and you'll have a tent full of causals with foam, buckets and sponges who only charge "a few quid for cash mate..."

I would like to post a funny reply to your post, but it's not funny (the pictures). Players are losing balls in it!!!!! Splosh! Gone !

Greens committee meeting tonight. Guess who's been informed (by another member) and is going?

Sadly it's a common sight on many courses this year. I've seen quite a few sodden courses. I think the problem is that there has been that much rain the course just doesn't have time to recover. I'm not sure what you can expect the greens staff to do.

This piggin' puddle sits there, well actually almost all year!

Well last nights meeting was interesting. Mr Captain joined in with my questioning of why this puddle was there and what was / could be done. What he really wanted to SCREAM was WHY THE NUTS AREN'T YOU DOING ANYTHING !!!!!!! He actually said it was starting to "smell". Now this ain't good. I've asked for it to be put as GUR to keep people away from all the bad bits but the Head GK said basically that made no difference as players walked though it anyway and winter was almost hear so we''ll be on lift and place soon. BUT, we are going to dig out the two ponds near by and the ditch in the hope that in doing so it will improve the flow of water though the course and therefore drainage. They really don't know if this will work, but at least something is being tried. I asked if we knew that all the drains were running clear with no blockages. He didn't know. Lets see eh? Next meeting Nov 2.

    Re: Wheel Wash

It's tough as on our course there are so many drains it's trying to identify the old ones and then checking them all. Something like that could be easily ringed off with hoops to stop people going through it. It's not rocket science. I've learnt there are no quick and easy answers to any of these but you do have to have a plan in place to try and resolve the bad areas.

How did the Nov 2nd meeting go? Any improvements or ideas. That puddle's not far off needing red/yellow stakes!
