Shame! I just threw a Top Quality Sony Trinitron 100 hz in to the dump. Needed to do it whilst I am still fit enough to lift it.

Sorry 'Lord T' gotta go against the 'Samsung' me ole mucker, I've had several over the years and the screens have burnt out on each and every one of them after about 3-4yrs...

Our household insurance refused to insure 'Samsung' after about the 4th one so got an 'LG' l.e.d/smart instead...

Samsung are made very cheaply, that's why they tend to burn out

Happy to be educated. I've been Sony or LG and my LG is streets ahead of past Sony's. I know people who swear by Samsung which is why I included them. Thanks for the post though, I'll remember it.

ah will be avoiding them then! Saying that my current tv is made by 'kurtis' so anything that's a recognised brand is an improvement. Is 4K the future? Or will there be something else out next year?!

Seeing as better retailers now offer 5+ years of warranty with TV's...
Screens burning out after 3-4 years shouldn't be a concern...

And, I would suggest 4k will be more than ample for many years to come...

4K and Virtual Reality (VR) is what it's all about at the moment! There isn't much 4K or UltraHD kicking about at the moment but I see it really taking off next year
