Re: Checking Alignment Prior to Shot

It might make you playing partners want to kill you, but I think you can put a club on the ground, line up your feet, pick up the club and play.

Don't think you can leave the club there though.

Never done it, and not sure where I heard it from.

Yep. Played in a medal once with a guy who did it. Wasn't actually that much of a slow down.

I might have to adopt this technique as my alignment on the tee box is causing me issues.

Re: Checking Alignment Prior to Shot

It's extraordinary how badly people align themselves. Mostly to the right, but I'm sure the opposite occurs as well.

I had an injury layoff earlier this year and just walked the course with my mates. Almost every shot they hit was misaligned, even off the tee. Decent golfers too (8 and 15).

My thanks to Pendodave and Rulefan for asking and answering this point. Alignment is an issue for me and I want to use my club to help me. I have read the link several times and wonder if it conflicts with Rule 14-3 , abnormal use of equipment?

Because it is expressly permitted in the Rules, it cannot conflict. Because of the Decision, it is normal use of equipment.
