I've got some friends all over the world I met doing that and wound up playing with.

The best trip I did included five rounds at St.Andrews, Carnoustie Burnside, Machrahanish, Mach Dunes, Turnberry Kintyre and Southerness. 10 rounds in 5 days - entire cost including hotels, green fees, food and fuel was under £1,000.
Wow! Will ask you for some suggestions then if I may!

If you go to St Andrews, you can talk to the starter and they allow single players to join 3 balls... (see the St Andrews links website for details of this and the daily ballot)

Kingsbarns website is very helpful on adding single players to games and you can do this online... (£240 a round though)

Otherwise, I am sure the Scottish Lads will look after you with games.... sort out your plan , add it on here, folk will help for sure!

Good luck! ....and one day we will all turn up in Milano for a game! Great city... been there to visit Monza and La Scala but never golf!
A bit Old School, Taylor Made Woods & Ping Irons! Jetspeeds and i25s

Somedays they behave, others less so!

Thanks for the reply Ian! Regarding St. Andrews you have to arrive very early in the morning right? Already played Kingsbarns once, pricey but worth it (kinda had a light artificial feeling though). Milan is a great city but just ok for golf, there are better Italian courses nearby

    Indeed Ian. Long overdue, too.

I'm about to move hoose - 500yds closer to the course - but once that's out of the way, I'll be happy to host a mob at WL (even if it's a mob of one).

These dates could tie in nicely.

St Andrews Links Ticket is something worth considering if you wish to concentrate (3 consecutive days) on St Andrews venues. You can even play 2 rounds a day if you wish!

Gullane also has an abundance of fine courses very close. Gullane 2 and 3 makes a great, and not over-tiring, day's golf and, imo, is way better value than a single round on #1. Likewise, Craigielaw and Kilspindie.

For inland courses, there are some fine ones in Perth!

I really enjoyed playing Como and Mennagio (particularly and wonderful scenery!) courses when I was over there some years ago.

I'm sure you will enjoy wherever you play, even if the weather is 'challengingly Scottish'!

I did that last year, when I was up playing in the Strathtyrum, I was there at 2.30am. It paid off, as I got a teetime at around 12

if you do queue, once they open up at about 6.30am, they will give you a tee time and then you can go away until that time.
