How does that compare to other teams spends over the same period?

I assume that figure is gross and doesn't include player sales?

My error - let me just check looks like around £280 mil spent so figures would be correct

"Strong financial position" and "good enough squad to compete". Never change Arsene, never change.

Arsenal are no where near a strong financial position. They are bleeding money hand over fist, with a poor transfer stategy, poor commercials, and a socialist wage structure that rewards the ordinary. They have no idea how to run a modern football club. He has said that losing Sanchez will cost the club 140m. Strong? No, pathetic.

Get down off that fence before you hurt yourself!

It's so disappointing to see a club that was at least on a par with Utd in their heyday having slipped so much. Lots of 4th's, and a second in that quirky season when Leicester won and everyone else had a holiday... maybe they'll prove us all wrong but there's so many different areas of concern at the club, they're not in a robust position.

    Re: And, we're off, 2017/18.......

So it appears that the PL clubs have voted in favour of changing the transfer window:

Premier League clubs have voted to close the summer transfer window before the first game of next season.

The 2018 window will close on the Thursday before the first match of the next campaign on August 9, and the new rule applies only to the buying of players.

Premier League clubs will still be able to sell players to other leagues whose transfer windows remain open later into August and September.

The transfer window for the EFL also remains unaffected, with clubs able to sell to lower division sides unless they decide to bring its window in line with the top-flight.

The Premier League transfer window in January remains unaffected by the impending changes.

The decision to make these changes was not unanimous but was reached by a majority of the 20 Premier League clubs.

I cannot understand how the chairmen think that this will actually help the PL, if anything surely it will put them in a weaker position. Foreign clubs will have a shorter period to resist the overtures of the PL clubs however that wouldn't stop a foreign club coming over and trying to buy a PL player once our window has closed. It won't stop someone unsettling Sanchez or Coutinho for example. What it would mean is if they then sell they cannot replace. This whole change would really only work if it's the same Europe wide IMO.
