The problem with the mane challenge is how he actually went for it.

Ian wright and shearer embarrassed themselves last night or maybe they didn't explain themselves correctly. They are right in that you would expect your player to make a challenge for that ball. He was only fractions from making contact to get past the keeper for a certain tap in.

The dangerous part of the challenge is when he eventually pointed his studs at the keepers face. If you are going to challenge with a high boot, you had better make sure you point your toe towards the ground.

Just seen the Ritchie tackle and he is a very lucky boy. Pretty identical attempt at a challenge. His one is extremely uncalled for. Mane's is at least forced upon him as he is racing forward and a keeper doing the same towards him. A collision is nearly inevitable. Ritchie could have few complaints if he walked.

Mane had every right to make a challenge. A less dangerous attempt would have got him in the book for being late. He gambled with that challenge. Simply had to get their first with that type of challenge. Had he got their first he would have earned a certain tap in goal or even more likely, been clattered by the keeper and got him dismissed.

3 match ban would be excessive IMO.

Just seen the Newcastle lads challenge on motd .
Really can't see any difference between the Mane challenge and that.
Only difference was Mawson did not go down but his manager might be asking him why he didn't as he would have gone IMO.
Most players now go down if they break a nail.

Trouble is if Mawson went down he is then accused of cheating as there was no contact. If mane had got to the ball first and then caught by the keeper. The keeper is off. It is fine margins. Seen the challenge both live and on telly and it is a sending off. Don't think there was anything malicious at all. It was never that kind of game.

Four games only and then sacked?!?!

Then to have Hodgson as the favourite to replace him!

He has a great record. Lasted a combined 19 games in his last 2 jobs. Ouch.

He was brought in to bring a different style to the club. You don't do that in 4 games. They have bottled it. Why make the appointment in the first place if you wont back it up? Bad from the people upstairs either in the initial decision or this one.

Not great for his management CV, where he was sacked after 89 and 77 days. Love to know the real reasons for both those sackings.
