    Re: And, we're off, 2017/18.......

Coutinho's injuries must have flared up again after being able to play for Brazil as he's not in the Liverpool squad.

Yeah one game when half the team had minds elsewhere. That's a pathetic thing to point out, let's see in May where Klopp is. Going by this thread about 20 points clear off Arsenal and about 6 places higher.

    We will see.

Some might say that a domestic league and cup double in the first season is a better start.😗

Got lucky ?! He won the league twice over there plus got to a CL final in the same 3/4 year period - how is that getting lucky. Sorry Sean that's a poor statement - if Klopp got lucky then so did Wenger with his title wins

He has been in the Prem 1 and a half season - first half season he got to the EL final and the League Cup final - then in his first full season last year got forth ( above Arsenal ) and back into the CL and looks like he has improved the squad further whilst Arsenal have gone backwards.

Lucky in the sense that things come together and Munich weren't strong etc.

Weren't they fighting relegation under his tenure after that?

I did say possibly. We said the same about Mourinho and Porto until he did the same at Chelsea, Inter, Chelsea.

Jury is still out on Klopp.

Even Pete just said that he's not saying Klopp is "all that" in case he ends up with egg on his face later on. He knows full well that it can go either way for him at Liverpool.

    No, he hasn't.

Unprecedented - never seen or heard of before.

Wenger started well with a largely inherited squad and initially won trophies. Since he lost the back 4 and players like Vieira his only "unprecedented consistency" is that he has consistently failed to address the obvious failings in the Arsenal team.

Alex Ferguson showed unprecedented consistency at Man Utd and added many major trophies as well which is something Wenger has failed to do over the last 10/12 years.

Haha lucky? He took a team that had slipped down to 13th in the league, a team that had failed to win anything since 01/02 and turned them around into one of Europe's strongest teams. During the 11-12 season his Dortmund team broke the record for most points accrued in Bundesliga history, they equalled Bayern's season win tally record and broke the Bundesliga unbeaten run record. He also made some superb signings on a limited budget when he first took over, bringing guys like Subotic (£4m), Hummels (£3.7m), Bender (£1.35m) Lewandowski (£4.2m), Pisczcek (Free), Kagawa (Free) and Gundogan (£4.95m) in for cheap, and then when he'd built a squad capable of competing in Europe he further strengthened bringing in and tutoring talent like Aubameyang, Mkhitarayan and Reus.

Say what you want about his first season and a bit at Liverpool, but there should be zero question mark about his capability or his record in Germany, he did a magnificent job at Dortmund. And as an Everton fan I'm a bit worried about him at Liverpool, he's building a seriously scary team that are more than capable of winning the league.

20 top 4 finishes, never seen that before and probably never will in our lifetime.

Didn't he sign Lewandowksi by fluke?

Besides you can stumble across a good team and get lucky that it comes together for you. Can he repeat that with another team over and over? Not saying that he won't but he still has it all to do.
