Re: Do you really want a hole in one?

I've holed out from 100 yards twice but never had a hole in one, only been playing for 12 months so guess I might be waiting a long time!

On most of the par 3's on our course you can't see the hole so I guess when you get one its a nice surprise

If getting a hole in one is down to luck then every shot where it lands is - I have had some luck with one of mine but the others were sweetly hit shots that rolled lovely into the hole or span back into the hole - they are well executed golf shots
Of course theres a certain amount of luck involved with odds of 12,500-1 for a club golfer to achieve a hole in one,if that isnt luck I dont know what is .

Someone gave that luck versus skill a practical test. 500 shots, and apparently he hit 498 greens.

Shows just how much luck plays a part. I wonder how long it would have take a tour pro to actually get one. 500 and counting

Re: Do you really want a hole in one?

Played in a 4ball match play a couple of years ago at Carnwath GC where our opponent holed his tee shot at the par 3 4th hole, but I got a 2 net 1 for the half.
Felt a bit guilty with us winning the front back and game for the money , with him still having to buy the drinks in the bar

Re: Do you really want a hole in one?

Played with a friend last weekend and he managed to drop his tee shot in on an uphill par 3, I tried to follow his quite excellent shot and hit the flag (unfortunately bouncing off the base of it and running to the front of the green) we wondered what the odds of two hole in ones on the same hole whilst playing together was but soon forgot once he got his drinks in.

Yes I've had one and it came in a matchplay.

Few years back now - lost the first hole. They stuck their shots to 4ft and 6ft! BOOM! in the back of the cup! A/S - I proceeded to play the best round I had played so far! putting in from everywhere, chipping in 3 times!
Should of put the lottery on that night!

Been playing since i was 12 (so 30 years). I've hit hundreds of thousands of balls and probably played tens of thousands of par 3's.

Never had a hole in one.

Re: Do you really want a hole in one?

Bit of a weird question - who would say no they don't want one?

Unless you mean is it the be all and end all, to which I would say no. I know the chances of me getting one are so slim that it doesn't bother.

Last week I watched my mate put one 6 inches from the hole. He's never had one so that was heart in mouth time for a second. Might be the closest he ever comes.
