Who cares? The longer we delay brexit the less likely it is to happen.

    Re: Article 50

    It's all very simple.

A referendum result is NOT legally binding, it is merely canvassing the public's opinion, in the eyes of the law. There is nothing legally stopping the government from ignoring the result and carrying on regardless. Of course this would be political suicide so it will happen (unfortunately IMHO but that's another debate). In order for it to became legally binding then the MP's (who we elected) have to vote on it. I would of thought that all those who wanted to "Take back control" would have been happy about that, or is it only to apply to keeping foreigners out and being able to buy bent bananas?

Wasn't it over 70% of the voting able population that voted and of that 70% the majority voted to leave.

Correct - a small majority of the electorate who voted, advised the government and parliament that they wished to leave the EU. And let's just check back on what the European Referendum Act 2015 actually was:

This Bill required a referendum to be held on the question of the UK’s continued membership of the European Union before the end of 2017. It did not contain any requirement for the UK Government to implement the results of the referendum, nor set a time limit by which a vote to leave the EU should be implemented. Instead, this is a type of referendum known as pre-legislative or consultative, which enables the electorate to voice an opinion which then influences the Government in its policy decisions.

    to infinity and beyond...

...well from 10.0 to 9.4 this year would be nice.

And with just the October medal to go - I've got to 8.3

But just to pick up on one very important point. This is simply WRONG. Parliament exists to serve the best interests of the people in the view of the people's representatives (the MPs) - it does NOT exist to serve the will of the people.
Well, how can it all be nonsense if you accept that the action may have been deliberate?
Your warped view of democracy speaks volumes about your views. MPs are elected democratically by their constituents based on whether they agree with their manifesto, election leaflets, public meetings etc. They enter Parliament to enact the will of the people, their electorate. They work for us. If they fail to do so, they risk losing their seat. Whilst I am sure you wish otherwise, this is not some communist state where the government knows best and the people have to live with it.
Following a General Election we don't need a Commons vote or a new Bill to decide who is the government. The country has decided. It's exactly the same with the referendum. Even as a remainer, you should be very concerned if Parliament goes against the will of the people as expressed in a referendum. The fact is, you are either a democrat or you are not. You cannot pick and choose based on the result of a particular election or referendum.
