I might not disagree with you - but am not sure that in the scheme of things leaving the EU will help matters for the poor and less well off.
    to infinity and beyond...

...well from 10.0 to 9.4 this year would be nice.

And with just the October medal to go - I've got to 8.3

Germany also has strong works councils in many areas - and these protect the rights of the worker very vigorously (and in my limited experience very rigidly)

Hair splitting... 11 out of 28 has zero hours contracts. Germany is one of many EU countries that allows zero hours contracts, and they have always been heavily governed via their workers councils since day 1. Manufacturing in Germany uses them for peaks/troughs in production, and there's little sign of that changing.

Who could wholeheartedly say remaining would see an upswing in the fortunes of 'the poor and less well off'...

All I could see was them continuing to sign deals that were good for business but poor for 'the people'...

And out of the EU? - UK business will act differently? When in order to win the business the UK needs to build a new trading base against lower cost countries - wages, and workers conditions and rights become secondary to winning the business. Maybe not,

Who thinks of Germany as being the EU? Is there any evidence of this? Certainly one of the main paymasters and therefore holding many of the trump cards, and the most important member after the UK. A position of influence that we are giving up because we think it costs too much - when I suspect most don't fully understand and value the influence that we actually have? We pretty much had the best of both worlds with our current status - and we are giving that up to have the best of our own world.
