I played Saturday and can only put it down to "one of those days" It started with 3-putt bogeys on the first two holes and never really got too much better frome there. I hit some great shots around the turn but in general just seemed to miss in really bad spots and putted poorly.

Would definitely recommend the Maxx Royal. Sueno Pines was also a good track and both together were good value. That time of year the condition will only be better and temperatures more bearable. By the time I finished at around 11am it was like a furnace.

I play in an invitation day ate Mile End near Oswestry, courtesy of DarrenWilliams wife, Joanne.
Despite only being 25 years old, the course was in good condition with lots of mature trees.
I played pretty well and would have scored 34 points, I did have a few 3 putts due to the greens being considerable slower than I am used to at Ellesmere.

Joanne despite playing off 36, she played nicely and when I messed up she was there with either 2 or 3 points and we finished up with 48 points, just pipped by the pair we played with who managed 49, thanks to several 4 pointers from a 31 handicapper whose chipping was something else. An added bonus was me winning the longest drive.

The weather was fantastic and an d the food afterwards was good too. The only downside was sitting in a queue of traffic for a hour on the way home which ended and suddenly as it started

Took my Gradidge set out (along with a couple of back-up woods) this evening for a warm up in preparation for tomorrow's Historic Open at Clitheroe.

Scored steadily with 17 out and 16 back, but two silly blobs ruined the card.
On our temporary short par 3 second my tee shot bounced into rough and the chip back also bounced over the very small green.
I tried to fade a 7 iron around a tree and over a pond on the par 5 15th and caught the ball a bit high up on the face and it didn't carry the pond.

Finished on a high though by hitting a lovely 4 wood (Uniroyal "Arnold Palmer", laminated maple head) with a touch of draw to the last hole.
Clubs - Various wooden woods. xVarious bladed irons. xVarious strange old putters. xxxIt's not all about the score. xx

Seniors Mixed Open at Whittington Heath today and shame to see the tree clearance for HS2 has already started as wanted to show it off to HiD before this happened but on a plus side there is one hell of a view from the first green now .

Greensomes and had 38 to be lying in 2nd place when we left . two blobs on the back nine
