    Re: Embarrasing.

Golf related one....aside from the thousands of bloody awful shots I've made.....!

The name of the course this happened at escapes me. But I'd just finished a hole and decided to have a pee before the next tee off. Had a quick look around to find somewhere which wasn't overlooked and headed for a secluded spot down by a little lake.

Flopped my Johnson out, started to have a pee......and then looked up. Just across the lake there was a huge lovely building with big French doors and windows. Contained within was a large wedding party sat down at their meal. A good number of them were looking directly at me.

Had to finish my business, then gave an apologetic wave, put myself away and quickly moved on. God knows how I hadn't clocked the huge building before I started!

    Re: Embarrasing.

I've missed some embarrassing putts in my time. Worst one I can remember was having just left it less than a foot away, I went to tap it in, but I was so focused on not stepping on the other chap's line that I basically tried to tap it in with a wide open putter face and missed it by two inches. And that was for one point in a Stableford as well so that earned me a blob. Quality work.

Another time recently, wasn't as embarrassing as it might have been because luckily I was only playing with my pal rather than any other club members. But it was a lay-up hole, we were just waiting for the fairway to clear, and I had my hybrid in hand so I was rabbiting on about how I might buy a second, longer hybrid as well as they're usually pretty reliable. So having said that, I step up to take my shot, thump the hybrid into the ground about 2 inches behind the ball, which squirts about 40 yards right and doesn't quite make it past the ladies tee. I just turn round and say "forget that - not buying another one of these bloody things"

Did that yesterday, so annoying. Little tap-in for a par, rushed it, pushed it, bogey. Annoying. Luckily still made buffer, would have been fuming if I'd missed buffer by a shot.

Playing the 17th at ours in a comp. Hit up to the green and left my bag along the path that leads up the 18th fairway (the tee is past the 17th green). Took driver and putter up. Hit a great tee shot on 18, longish par 4 up the hill towards the clubhouse. Iron onto the green. Get green side look into bag.... no putter!

Left it leaning against the tree next to the 18th tee. Played the ball out with my rescue club (par) but still had the loooong walk back to the tee then back again.

    I'll not do that again.
Hit a little white ball round a field into a small hole. Repeat.

Similar situation. Had a ladies' fourball behind us. We finally got out of sight & I went across to the edge of the Fairway. Saw three greenkeepers a little distance away & thought that wasn't a problem. When I was done I walked past the greenkeepers & passed the time of day. First Lady greenkeeper I've ever seen.

Just as an aside question. In The Rules are you actually allowed to add to your clubs (if you start with less than 14) after you have tee'd off on the 1st? Let's assume you don't actually have to go off the course to get another club and so cannot be deemed to breach Rule 6-7 - in respect of Unduly Delaying Play.
    to infinity and beyond...

...well from 10.0 to 9.4 this year would be nice.

And last medal of the year (Oct) saw me play to handicap but CSS was +1 so that was me down 0.2 from 8.3 to 8.1

    Job done

I was playing in a society on a course i did not know. I needed relief from the lunch time beers, and so with no one about so to speak, i popped over to the ob fence for a quick jimmy. Mid flow, and i find out that the other side of the fence is a rail cutting. I know this now, as a flipping great train went past, with me waving my tackle at it.

    Re: Embarrasing.

Not golf related. Was called up to play for the under 13s as an 11 year old. Cleaned my boots at lunchtime and put them on the bus hours before we left. Found out I had left them on the other bus (still at my school) so didn't get to play in that footie game.

Golf related - was playing at Southwold with two mates and some of their family members came to watch.
One of them tees off on the 5th, hits a tree and nearly takes out his wife. Fortunately the ball didn't hit her but has completely disappeared behind us.
I didn't do a particularly good job at stiffling my laugh.

One of the guys in our Sunday roll-up takes out his range-finder and as we are following a fourball of ladies, reports that the distance is "167 to her left tit, 169 to the right one". We all naturally laugh.

One of the others goes into the clubhouse and tells the story .... to her husband (without realising who it was). The other three of us seeing what is about to occur, rapidly exit stage left.
