    4BBB STABLEFORD - CONFUSED!

Sorry for being thick again folks. At our club we have a 4BBB stableford Winter League, 3/4 handicap, high and low drawn together etc.

    Can anyone please explain

    1) What is 4BBB - i.e. how is it played?

    2) It's a league thing, and having looked at the 1st week's current standings, the leading player has 15, and bottom of the league has 6. What is this scoring system anyone?

    Many thanks in advance DUDES

I think the format will be teams of two with the best score of the pair going down on the card on each hole. That's the way I usually play 4BB.
Don't know what the other scoring is??

Not sure on your league, that could be personal to your club.

4BBB (4 ball better ball) is you and your partner play as a team, with the best score between you and your partner going on the card for each hole.

And if your handicaps are anything like as badly administered as they are at our club, then scores in the high 40's will be needed for you to have a sniff of winning anything!

I know it's a better ball format, but off a 3/4 allowance if pairs are AVERAGING over 46 points over 5 rounds (which we get every winter), then questions need to be asked.

I've played in two BB stableford competitions this year.
Both were won with 43 points (not by me I hasten to add) so that sounds about right.
But averaging 46 points per round is just taking the pee

I think 43 points 4BBB off 3/4 is also a bit dodgy. Off Full, yes, that's a good number....probably a bit short of winning.

    I don't Dave.
Me and my partner (a true 13 handicapper) came in with 41 points around Bearwood Lakes and were knocked out of 4th spot on countback. We both felt that we had left 3 or 4 points (at least) out there.
Bear in mind it only needs a few 3 pointers along the way to get you there and to make sure that neither of you blob a hole. A 12 and 13 handicapper are bound to get a good few 3 pointers in any given round. You've just got to make sure you don't do it on the same hole!
