Re: Yet another golfing Rule myth...

There is no requirement to mark the ball if moving an immovable obstruction is likely to cause the ball to move. If the ball moves, just replace it. A loose impediment is, of course, different.

Re: Can a concession such as this be discounted

And what if the leading side decided to walk in leaving the other side on the 17th tee?

But given rulie's ruling do you see it as a match?

Re: Can a concession such as this be discounted

I am not convinced. There is no compulsion to continue if one side has accrued so many points that the other side cannot score enough in the remaining holes to catch them. They, as in any match, may...

Only Local Rules approved by the R&A can be used for qualifying scores. Other non-authorised rules made locally, cannot.

    Re: Non Quilifing competitions

I'm afraid they can't be used for handicap adjustment. You must return them to your club to be used as supporting information at the next annual review.

I think this what you've seen.

That is also a breach of the Rules of Golf. Any rounds played with that rule are not qualifiers.

    Re: Winter rules

It is a 2 stroke penalty. There is no such 'winter rule'. Tell you pro to look under Winter Rules in the Local Rules section of the littel book.

CONGU do not make any exception for a breach of the...

Of course "The Committee has no power to waive a Rule of Golf."
and "If a claim is not made in accordance with Rule 2-5, it must not be considered by the Committee."

Re: Can a concession such as this be discounted

So this was in the semi final of the KO round?

The definitions don't specify how the scoring is done in a four ball match. ie Whether it is no of holes or total s'ford points.
    I'm not sure why...

Re: Can a concession such as this be discounted

It sounds very like a match to me.

" ...... pairs stblfd semi-final, the winner being the side with most points ..."

IMO"you can have the match we are off" is a concession.
