    Re: Mike Malaska

    :D

Sorry, it was a silly post really. I think Malaska talks a lot of sense.

I bracket him with Monte Scheinblum who explains what is actually a traditional swing in a completely different way....

    Re: Golf club car snobbery

There are a lot of pretty normal family cars that are over £30k these days.

A Ford Fiesta with a decent spec is £16k or so. Crazy really.
  4. Re: Which player currently on Tour will have the most majors by 40

    Spieth

He is always there or thereabouts come Sunday.

I don't think he'll catch Tiger though. There are too many others that will challenge, Johnson, Mcilroy, Rahm, Day, Thomas. Can't see...
  5. Re: Hitting at the green when there are people on it

Exactly, Duncan. He was talking about it landing and running up to the front of the green, or onto the front edge if he hit a freakishly big one. He wasn't endangering anyone on the green (just those...

    Re: Attack or defend?

If your issue is how you approach the round, that's easy to fix.

Taking your 150 yards out example, i think the important thing is to eliminate the danger given, as you say, missing the green is...

Re: I am the only one getting worse

Don't give up on competitive golf just yet!

Stop worrying about your handicap going up. Even a terrible round just means +0.1. Hardly a big deal.

Re: I am the only one getting worse

It's not unusual to struggle with your first handicap a little.

At least, based on my experience it isn't.

I was allocated 20 when I first started, it soon went up to 21 and then came down to...

    Re: club dispute

3 month ban for swearing? I don't think I know anyone at my club that wouldn't be banned. I'd be banned by about the second hole.

Assuming of course you mean saying a swear word or two having hit...

    Re: Gutted

I'd liken this to sticking your ball in the deep rough, behind a tree; take your medicine and hack out sideways.

As many have said already, accept a 4 week layoff and don't risk an 8 week layoff...
  13. Re: does anyone remember the Golf Channel UK?

You make it sound like you don't live in your own house.
  14. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

You're very reliable, Bob, I was going to put at the foot of my previous post (ps. Bobmac will be along shortly to correct my post!)
  15. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

Thanks for the heads up, I'll change the scale immediately.

On a scale of 0 - 2, how well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

    Re: Car dealer "VIP" events

I took a quick look at coast2coastcar.co.uk and looked like they were getting to c.16% discount (without options).

Have you considered a BMW 440i? You would be able to get about 25% off the list...
  17. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

But how do you know how to get it there without understanding what you should be doing inbetween?

I don't think it necessarily requires a deep technical understanding, but what approach do you...
  18. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

I think they have a very good understanding of their own swing, but given anyone that is THAT good must take to the game very naturally indeed, I doubt they need to really understand the mechanics as...
  19. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

I'm with you Gary, I think a good technique leads to speed.

I think the focus on speed first and accuracy second is more for elite juniors, isn't it? I.e. those that already have a sound...
  20. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

What's your plan for fixing the inbetween? I.e. how are you going to learn to improve whatever needs to be improved?
  21. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

I agree. I think the people that say it's just a case of picking up a club and swinging and not thinking about it are the lucky ones that naturally do it in a way that works. Saying that to someone...
  22. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

    Simple as that.....
  23. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

That works if you're not doing something so fundamentally wrong in your backswing that it prevents you from getting the downswing right.

I'm putting you into the natural camp DCB!
  24. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

His backswing is unconventional, but I would wager downswing and impact is much more like you'd expect.

So I would certainly classify it as a good swing, albeit not one that you would teach!
    ...
  25. Re: How well do you understand the mechanics of a good golf swing?

It gives you factual information relating to path and the club face angle at impact.

It doesn't tell you how you got to that position or how to do fix it. You'd still need to know a decent amount...
