Re: Dodds goes at SGU / Fee increase abandoned

I "believe" that these plans have been shelved and common sense to the uproar plus fears of club closures has made Scottish Golf sit up, take notice and back down.

Social media has it's uses. Not...

    Re: Anyone battling Brian tomorrow?

Great fun on the links today, 20+ winds but the rain stayed away which was a bonus. Highlight was a 3 wood from 170 to 8 feet!

    Moray Old.

Brilliant track and was enjoying it till the heavens opened for last 8 holes.

Kingsbarns as I'm told its amazing. Thought it was good, not amazing.

A number of golf bags have this velcro attachment and I use it.

Firstly I think your idea is quite good in that you can put the velcro where you, the user finds it most handy and accessible. I...

    Re: Ebay

You have to now. Don't or very rarely sell on ebay now as a few donkeys spoil it for everyone. I've had a couple of things returned that have been used. All you need to say is that is doesn't match...

Re: Hardest course you have ever played?

I think that 18 is a brilliant hole. 16th is alright, tough par three and 17 is strategic. Certainly not stupid in my opinion. Each to their own.

Re: Turning pro, how tough is it.

Calling a professional a hacker is disrespectful in my view however we'll agree to disagree.

Re: Turning pro, how tough is it.

A tad disrespectful to the guy/gal who has sacrificed his playing time to stock and run a shop, serve his/her members and teach compared to the golfer who by your own admission has worked their butt...

Re: Hardest course you have ever played?

You should have tried Mach Dunes in their Black Tee Open this year. It was absolutely brutal.

Re: Turning pro, how tough is it.

Lots of people fall away from the game. Some big time casualties as well. One of Scotland's Eisenhower Trophy winning team is now driving a taxi after failing to make a living. It's a tough tough...

    Re: Mar Hall

Good to hear. It's never been scruffy or poor, that's very unfair, especially if you haven't even played it.

FD, I did warn you about the greens, they are always bloody slow, loads of good grass...

Re: Hardest course you have ever played?

Has too be Royal Troon in any sort of wind.

Back 9 is absolutely brutal, more so than Carnoustie. It's a brilliant test of golf that really chews you up and spits you out!

I think it's more a case of it was the start of him settling down and winning the Open. I personally think that it was a huge pressure shot that settled him and ultimately played a huge, actually...

Re: Dodds goes at SGU / Fee increase abandoned

Same organisation, different name. Bit like a defunct Glasgow Football team, same failings under a different umbrella.

Hopefully I'm wrong and we won't be facing another 100% rise in fees in a...

Re: Dodds goes at SGU / Fee increase abandoned

No resentment to change at all and as I stated first off the money is not an issue. Its just another bail out to the SGU that I can see.

Those discount websites have nothing to worry about from...

How many pay and play visitors does a members club like Caldwell and Erskine (the two examples I already used) get? I'd suggest very little and what they do get they get through discounted golf sites...

    Re: Golf club car snobbery

Re: Dodds goes at SGU / Fee increase abandoned

SGU are out of touch and out or reality.

The proposed increase isn't so much about the cost with me, its the inadequate way in which they have mismanaged funds for years and offered very little...

    Re: Portstewart or The Island?

Only played Portstewart and it was beautiful, especially the front 9. The back 9 is good, just not the same class as the front nine but very very enjoyable.
