I'd love to but I'm playing in the Masters. OK its only the Royal Ascot Masters but it is an exclusive 36 medal event only open to winners of medal and gold board tournaments from August to August each year. As my December medal win was the last time I threatened to play to my handicap I am going in with my eyes wide shut!

Hadn't realised it's only 1.30 to get there; this is now a serious proposition, especially as no society game this month.

but, as I'm really irritated by the no camera thing (mine is silent!) what are the pro-am days like - worth going?

homer, you got your weeks crossed? The British Masters is 25-28 Sept, your other post has your masters this weekend.

andy, my camera is anything but discreet that's the problem. see loads with them but mine's as close as you can get to an slr without changing lenses.

wouldn't mind if it was anything to do with the golfers, but it's not. it's all about copyright - could just make myself a press pass I suppose.

Just been loking a the website - £15 for an advance day ticket or £30 for a season ticket - not bad value at all!

Is there a list anywhere of who's playing?

It is my birthday you see so I thought I will go having enjoyed my first tournament experience at the BMW at Wentworth so much. Certainly looking forward to it- it is a very strong european tour field- Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood, Rory Mcilroy to name a few

Cameras may be banned, but if you are far enough away from players & find a stand to sit in, maybe you might get away with it if you are considerate & not trying to take pictures mid swing or directly before shots. I've seen people with cameras there. Though I certainly wouldn't take one even though I'd love to dust off the SLR & the telephoto lenses.

The range & practice/Pro am day is permitted for cameras.

Been at the Belfry the past few years & will be going again this year. Its one thing to be behind the ropes, but would love the oppertunity to caddy on British Masters week, to see the action at first hand from inside the ropes.

as I said, my camera is silent - no click - no shutter noise, it's simple - Menu/Volume/Off. It can't possibly disturb a golfer, not that I would be shooting anyone mid-stroke. That though is beside the point, it's not about the golfers, it's about copyright - have a look at the terms and conditions on/with the tickets (or online) - it says that 'you agree not to publish a photographic or written account'. to me that says it all.

However, I shall be going to the pro-am day and will be glad to meet any of you.

Worth going if anyone gets the chance. I went on the Sunday and managed to see Westwood, Poulter, Monty and Jimenez plus a few others. Crowds were not too big so was really close to the ropes and there are plenty of natural viewing spots on the course.
