Given that golf is a highly weather dependant activity, my questions for today are ..... Do you regularly check a weather forecast for golf, which one do you use and , most importantly, is it any bloody good??
I have consulted many different forecasts and have finally settled on a talented amateur (who lives less than half a mile from my golf course) who publishes a web based forecast specifically for my local area. It's a hobby for the guy and he's far more accurate than anybody else i've found. Also he has a live webcam and live updates of the current weather conditions which allows me to sit at work, log in and check the weather at home, allowing me to make the " should I rush home and try and get a crafty round in ?" decision.
For the guys who live near me ( madandra and boabski) here's his website :
Fair play to you, Alex Stephens Jr. You're a great guy!

I use my own barometer, and a quick look at the current weather.
In general in the UK, you can't go far wrong with predicting that tomorrow will be much like today.

I've used accuweather for a while and as long as you keep checking, it's pretty accurate.
Hence the name I suppose!

I use Metcheck or the met office to double check ahead, the rest are worse than useless.

Have a quick nose on the local BBC weather page but then make my own decision. If I'm playing a social round I might take a chance and just pack a waterproof top but if I'm in a competition and the forecast is for heavy showers or longer periods of rain I'll pack my waterproofs, a couple of spare gloves and several small towels.
I tend to trust the BBC weather but will make a decision normally once I get to the club and can see the prevailing weather coming in

I use metcheck.com and compare with bbc.co.uk/weather. metcheck has the advantage of presenting 3hr tranches.

Who needs a forecast? Where I live we have a major issue with weather (rain).
The fluffy things in the sky that come all that mighty long way across the Atlantic ocean reach a place called Wales. On discovering Wales, they say "not yet, mi' lads, we need to wait for some hills before chucking our precipitation on the good folk and their farms and scorched golf courses".....so they trundle along...merrily (as it happens) until they find some hills or maybe even some big hills, known as mountains....like Snowdon for example. Then, they let loose with all the fury they can muster.....but before they are spent....(as it were, ooh er missus) they arrive over the green a pleasant land of Shropshire, bringing misery and precipitous woe to all in one of God's finest lands.
Sorry, just found some vintage rum.....

bbc forecasts have really gone down in my estimation, anything over a couple of days is represented by a universal blue smudge. I think they've been afraid to give an opinion since the 'there will be no hurricane' pronouncement.
Metcheck is decent and well presented. Free Weather Forecast at GreenCast.co.uk is pretty accurate.
