Work! Work! Work!
      #54722 - 18/08/2008 23:27

OK so we all have to do it day after day(how would we fund our obsession otherwise), so what i was wandering is what do we all do for a living?.
When i first got into golf some 28 years ago it always seemed to me that it was a sport for the middle/upper class professional types, doctors, dentists, solicitors etc.
Now in this modern age it has developed into a game for all and everyone so for starters this is mine -

Systems analyst/senior engineer/implementation analyst/systems admin.
My daily tasks are sys admin for our in-house systems across 3 offices in NI, England and Eire, customer facing and testing out new technology to implement into our current solutions. Luckily our accountant is a golfer and my boss enjoys getting out the odd time.
Ive now started bringing in my putter into the office and placing a cd 30 feet away from one end of the office and try to stop the ball as close to the centre of the cd as possible, so far its impossible to stop it in the centre but have nudged it plenty, the office even has a little right to left roll.

--------------------

The game is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym and on the range, long before I even make the first tee.

Did we not do this a while back? Anyway, I’m a so-called production engineer for a world renowned stairlift manufacturer, Acorn. I test things new to make sure they will last the pace, I implement production changes, set up production lines for efficiency and quality, fault find when they need to find faults and all this is just one big distraction to my golf.

I am a Security Manager so I get to sit on me bum all day on the forum.... Not.

I am responsible for the safety and security of both staff and customers, for one of Europes largest designer outlets.

We also work very closely with the local Police and try our best to defere shop lifters and criminals from using our complex.

I very often have the privaledge of getting my hands dirty when dealing with shoplifters, assaults, RTA's etc etc.

It seems to change day to day for me at the moment...

Today I'm a barman and company director. A wee while ago I was a solicitor. Before that I was a grousebeater and icecream van salesperson. Next month I fully expect to be the new MP for Fife.

OK, I lied about the Fife thing.

A mixed bag indeed! Hope you don't ever get confused about which job you're doing?

Serving drinks to grouse, hitting customers in the bar with sticks to drive them out of the undergrowth, offering legal advice (with a flake in) to kiddies. Where will the chaos end?

Telling lies? More than qualified to become an MP then!

Absolutely Craig.

When I do reach the Commons I shall do as all British politicians do and immediately vote to give myself a huge pay rise, raise a Private Members Bill to permit MP's free access to the Old Course and royally ignore the pleas of my constituents to actually improve the quality of their lives if it means me having to cede my right to a free mortgage in Edinburgh. Vote Findlay. You know it makes sense.
