Poker.
      #53372 - 08/08/2008 19:20

Anyone else here play online poker?
I haven't played for ages, but I'm going to have a bit of a session tonight as well as have a few and watch the gowf. You'd never guess that the wife's away out and I've got the house to myself would you?

Beer + Online Poker, thank goodness HID is out. Be careful with the reload cash button tonight, set a limit and stick to it.

Dont play online but play with mates few times a year and lose way too much money.

GOOD LUCK.

Years ago, before computers were invented, I got involved in a late night strip-poker game. Great fun, almost as good as golf. The holes were much nearer.

Poker's not gambling man, It's a science!
I'm not playing for the money anyway.I just like playing and working out pot odds and percentages. The most I ever play is $10 SnG's, so the absolute maximum I could lose tonight is about $50 (£25)
I've just cashed in my first game so i'm playing the next couple for nothing now.

Mixed it was. Some of us were ''shorter'' than others but managed to play below our handicap. Most of us should have been cut.

Seen 3 online and 3 live. (two in the same session)
Haven't had one myself yet. Had a few straight flushes (Q being the highest)
Having a good night so far, even had quads twice!! Currently in a $5 tourney, 13th out of 560 at the moment! on a 5min break.

A word of caution.

I know of two people who have lost quite substantial amounts of money playing poker online.
One lost his job and the other lost his wife through mounting up some very serious debt. The guy who lost his job had resorted to stealing to try to sell the stuff in order to recoup his lost money.

Not good!

I play with the lads now and then, we have our own poker table. Everyone throws a 10er in the middle and winner usually bags about 50/60 quid

I'm at university and actually created a poker society. Last year I organised a tournament that had 110 players.

I am part of a core group of about 5/6 poker players that play quite regularly online. The most successful of us has a blog - although it hasn't been updated in a while.

He reguarly plays 5/10 to 25/50 online

Hoooooof poker

never have, never will.
I got cured of gambling before I even started on a leave train from Edinburgh to the Smoke. We all had Christmas leave pay in our pockets amounting to 2 or 3 months money. Card school started but fortunately I just sat back and watched; didn't know how to play the game anyway.
One guy, married Killick (Leading Hand = Corporal) with kids, lost his entire leave pay, borrowed it back and lost it again three times, then was physically sick. Put me off for life.

I partake, but only on Facebook (ie not real cash). Quite successful, as have amassed over £200k from a starting stake of about £300.

Obviously if it was real I woiuld have lost loads, but its just a bit of fun.

Definitely don't play for money, I'm too unlucky!

.....or bookies, casino etc...

There's always those who can't control a pastime or some such, whether it be drink, drugs, gambling, or always on the golf course.

You can't warn those who need warning, and those who don't need a warning won't get into trouble anyway.
