Andrew Murray
      #49019 - 30/06/2008 21:55

Enough respect to the man tonight.

Showed real tenacity, and heaps of passion which I love to see from a british sportsperson.

Nadal will be a stern test indeed for him so everything crossed but for tonight, wow, what a performance.

I loved the raw emotion and passion he showed, but the tensing of the bicep at the ends was perhaps a little silly considering he is now up against Nadal. Fair play to him though to come back from that took real grit and determination- hopefully he doesn't pick this trait up- going behind and coming back much like his British number 1 predecessor. Best of luck to him in the next round but I can't see him winning.

What a match! I have never got into Tennis before but I was on the edge of me seat last night.

The bicep tense at the end was a little silly but he is still young and was really good to see him so emotive. Was also good to see the French bloke moaning.

Really cant see him beating Nadal, he must be knackered today.

Any one else thinking how odd it must be for Tim Henman to still be at Wimbledon this late in the tournament.

I think the muscle tensing was probably to show the work he's been doing in the gym has paid off.

Bit harsh on Henman htl!

He made the quarters loads of times and I think 3 or certainly 2 semi's as well.

I would agree that he might not have had that final killer instinct but by any comparison with a Brit he is way the best since Fred Perry.

Henman was a decent grass court player, always felt when he did a fist-clench however he was mildly embarrassed by it, it was like his PR people told him to do it to improve his rather 'grey' middle-class reserved Brit image.

Murray's fist pumping when he won the 3rd set did not look staged to me, pure relief I expect.

Nadal will probably be too strong but if Murray can serve better it could be close.

It's not just physical strength he showed, but incredible mental strength as well.

Unlike our younger pro golfers who for whatever reason play really good golf in the early stages of a tournament, and then crumble like Mount Etna on a bad day.

(I'm aware that the above statement is a generalisation!)

I know, sorry Tim. I like Tiger Tim, it was a joke on 8 /10 cats and I fancied trying it out. He was a good player and did reach his potential it was a shame he didnt have that extra 1% to take him to the next level.

Good match and very credible donkey impressions. Nadal's another league, though...

Murray will have the same problem as Henman. He is good, but not quite good enough. That is not putting him down, just a statement of fact. We should be pleased that in these two we have had two top ten players, many countries would love this (USA for one).
Can't see him ever beating Nadal. They will both improve a bit, but the gap will remain the same.

Agree with Murph, the lad is very good but Fed/Nadal/Djokovic in a different class right now.
Can't see Murray getting much better but he might sneak one of the grand slams on hard courts (US or Australian) one day.
