this years handicap target reached
      #140961 - 03/07/2009 19:19

At the start of the season I was playing off of 15 and decided I would set a target of 12 for this season. After a cut on wednesday I have reached 12.2.

Should I set a new reduced handicap target for this season or aim to consolidate and be comfortable at 12 or just see where I go?

Personally, although I'm not in your situation, I would now aim for single figures. I know it would be tough but you could always remember that you have met your original target. I envy you, your in a win, win situation.

My advice would be to consolidate, one days sunshine doesnt make a summer.
Practice and be comfortable about where you are now. If things are still getting better, the scores (and eventually handicap) will look after themselves.

I set myself 12 and got there until last week (back up to 12.5) and so still a little way to go. The reach for the sky goal was 10 but its looking a bit further away than I'd hoped. Mind you I went from 14 to 12 in four weeks so maybe I just need to get use to playing at that level and not worry and see where we go from there. My chipping still needs work even after my lesson so that is the last big area I need to tackle now

Reach for the stars mate , go after it. All this consolidate waffle is no good to you. Go out there and get stuck in and see how low you can go. Make the most of your good form and dont start getting negative about it , keep going and dont stop until you run out of comps and the winters here

Good scoring to get there by now. I've sort of got there. I set a target of being off 10 by the summer but ideally down into single figures before Autumn. Made the 10 by April but then an enforced lay-off from competitive golf has left me treading water.
Hopefully get some comps in soon at my new course - only need a 0.6 cut to reach 9.4

set yourself a new target. My target was to get down to 15 from 18. Then 15 to 12. Then 12 to 10. All achieved now i want 7.

2015 Open Champion may well be Feary by the sound of it - good going fella!

Just upgraded clubs via e-bay:
Still Confidence Square Driver
Taylormade 3W
Dunlop 5w
Wilson 3i Hybrid
King Cobra 4i-PW
Dunlop MkII SW
Just purchased Ping Anser 2i Putter

Hopeful that the above may help me get my current 14 handicap down to 10-12 ish this year, as been playing with pretty ordinary clubs so far!

Society handicap 14.2
