I'm extremley lucky to be able to work part time, and as I settled down this afternoon to watch the cricket and golf on sky sports (all guys channel hop eh?) I got to thinking which sports commentators did I like? My current favorite is David (Bumble) Lloyd what a brilliant voice and always makes me laugh with his comments, observations on the crowd as well as being informative. I do enjoy the sky golf coverage, especially Wayne Riley always good for a laugh.
Who does everybody else like?

Wayne Riley is a guy I could listen to all day long...some of his patter is priceless and I cannot for the life of me understand when Sky cover the majors he is never working for them??!!
Some cracking golf phrases, down draft(down wind)He's taking the furniture at this(all he's got).....one of my favs has to be when McIlroy was in contention for a win and he was saying his Gilfriend was still at school and it was her birthday the next day...he's over a putt and Riley says 'holes this and it'll be a diamond encrusted pencil case for her tomorrow'!!!! Priceless.
Beats Clark and Boxy any day although I do like both of them just Riley is a different gravy.

Johnny Miller doesn't sit on the fence when he's commentating on the PGA Tour which is refreshing as most are too scared to be critical for fear of upsetting the player...(Alliss and Dougherty springs to mind)

Can't say I have any favourites, but I must admit that I do like listening to what McEnroe has to say when he's commenting on the tennis.

I used to like Dave Marr. Riley's good too. As far as cricket is concerned Jonners and Blowers were in a league of their own. Motty for footy and Bill Mclaren for rugby.

I always have Bumble down as being the instigator of the phrase 'early doors' into national language. I know he beat certain fat football pundits to it.

I love listening to Bob Bubka on Talk Sport radio when they're covering the golf. He always has a good story to tell too.

Not a commentator but I've always liked Hazel Irvine on the BBC as the anchorperson, especially after meeting her at Carnoustie in 07, a diamond and far better than the jug eared one.
Riley is priceless everytime he's on and I think all the Sky team are good. Butch Harmon is fantastic in the commentary box at the big events but for me the jury is out on Thomas Bjorn after the US Open.

The Legend that was Brian Johnstone in tandem with Jonathan Agnew commentating on the cricket....pure genius, especially when they were trying not to laugh. And the favourite stitch up would be to wait until one of them had a mouthful of cake then ask him for his comments!
I like Boxy's dry sense of humour.
I see someone mentioned Sam (great drive)Torrance......that's a joke right?
And Peter (bitter, twisted and insanely jealous of the current tour pro's) Aliss!!!!!!

Have to agree with the Hazel Irvine thing, absolutely first class. I'm of the era of Henry Longhurst, fantastic to listen to, at a time when we didn't have wall to wall sport on TV. Peter Alliss was always good to listen to but I think he has lost something over the last couple of years, but I'm not sure about this sitting on the fence title, he upset a certain Mr Faldo enough times. Also liked Alex Hay, what happened to him, and Butch Harmon.
As for the other commentators, agree with Imurg with regards to Jonners and Blowers, and I believe Jonathan Agnew has done a good job over the years. Must mention Peter O'Sullivan for the horse racing and Mcenroe is top dollar for the tennis, but I also like Andrew Castle. Has turned out a better commentator than player, another guy who doesn't hold back on his thought's.
As for the football, used to like Martin Tyler before he even went to Sky, top quality.

There is only Peter Allis and Alex Hay, Legends. David Feherty and Ken Brown have there moments.
The rest are rubbish, Ewan(Darren Clarke is the best golfer ever)Murray doesn't have a scooby and could Sam Torrance be any more monotone, I heard a rumour he got excited once but it turned out he just f*rted.

Alliss is becoming a joke the older he gets, not remembering how many shots players have had, always shocked when a guy is hitting 8 iron from 170 etc etc, great at commenting on what is surrounding the golf course but not so at what's actually on it!
