What fun....depends on the course, and your standard. Off a mid h'cap the trick is to take a combination that suits the holes you par the most. At mine, I rarely par the long holes (457,440,412) so I can play these 3w/3w and be close enough for a safe(ish) bogey. The holes that are my best bet are the 3 or 4 310-330 yarders. So I'd carry 3w + P-wedge and add a 6 iron. Then again, I could go with 5w + 9 iron and add say, a 5 iron. Maybe you should write down your card.....pick a club that you feel has a good mix of distance and accuracy off the tee (wood, hybrid, 4 iron?) and work out mentally how much you'd have left on each hole. Forget the long holes, concentrate on the short ones and see if there is one short or mid iron that suits a good few par 3s. I might try this myself....I'll see if I can post my results!! |
