This might be absolute roll***s, but I have a theory that a nice soft ball is more "even" in distance than a brick-like ball. I've played "distance" balls most of my golfing life and there is one problem with them i.m.o. They are all very well, but on the odd one, they come off the putter at a silly speed.....and fly past. I don't seem to get this with 1/2 and 1/2 balls....
Can't explain any more.....
